Codes & Conventions
Every single magazine follows the generic codes & conventions to create the magazine. Although each company/brand follows the same conventions, they have different aspects that make the magazine pop.
The title of the magazine, usually in bold letters and is instantly recognizable and attracts readers.
Tagline:
Shows what the magazine or who the magazine is about.
Coverlines:
Gives the audience an idea of what the magazine consists of.
Central Image:
A large image that covers the whole front page of the magazine, which is usually what causes the reader to pick up the magazine.
Cover model:
Usually celebrities, which makes the reader feel connected with the magazine and attracts them to it.
Colour Scheme:
The colors that tie the magazine together and may target a certain age group/audience.
Barcode:
Located usually in the bottom left or right corner and allows the reader to purchase the magazine.
